Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity is a social/service brotherhood of collegiate and professional men located all over the United States as well as internationally. Phi Beta Sigma was founded at Howard University in 1914 in order to exemplify the ideals of Brotherhood, Service, and Scholarship while taking an inclusive perspective to serving the community. Sigmas are nicknamed “the People’s Frat” because of its diversity in membership that welcomes all nationalities, religions, races, and abilities, and for its outwardly focusing motto, “Culture for Service and Service for Humanity.” Sigmas are unique in having a constitutionally-bound sister organization, Zeta Phi Beta, with whom the same colors and symbols are shared. The Intake Process of Phi Beta Sigma is a dignified, haze-free experience that builds brotherly bonds, a deeper appreciation of our ideals, and a transformation toward greater integrity and character.
